Finance council

“In each parish there is to be a finance council which is governed, in addition to the universal, by norms issued by the diocesan bishop and in which the Christian faithful, selected according to these norms , are to assist the pastor in the administration of the goods of the parish.” (Code of Canon Law 537)

By law, each parish must have a finance council.  The role of the finance council is to assist the pastor in the financial affairs of the parish of St. Thomas Aquinas.  The members of the finance council have a consultative role to the pastor of the parish of St. Thomas.  All final decisions are made by the pastor.  In certain cases, the pastor must consult the members of the finance council, but the final decision always rests at the discretion of the pastor.  The members are selected by the pastor, must have some knowledge of financial affairs and be parishioners of the parish of St. Thomas.  The finance council gathers once a month in the parish office, or when called by the pastor.
The members of the finance council for our parish of St. Thomas are:

Fr. Abel Mena                                                           Bob Quinn—Chair
Sheila McNamara ---Secretary                          Dee  Espinoza
Pilar  Vazquez                                                          Chuck Reiland

Pastoral Council

“A pastoral council is to be established in each parish, over which the pastor presides and in which the Christian faithful, together with those who share pastoral care by virtue of their office in the parish, assist in fostering pastoral activity.  A pastoral council possesses a consultative vote only and is governed by the norms established by the diocesan bishop” (Code of Canon Law 536).

A pastoral council is recommended to be in place in a parish but is not mandatory.  The role of the pastoral council is to assist the pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas in the pastoral activity of the parish.  The members are selected by the pastor. In our parish of St. Thomas, the members represent the various parish groups in our parish.  The pastoral council gathers in the parish office once a month on Mondays
The members of the parish council are:

Fr. Abel Mena                                                        Mary Quinn—Chair

Cursillo
